Notes

Description
On the Texas frontier, in the years after the civil war, a Comanche war party attacks the Edwards ranch and kills all the inhabitants, except for the two girls carried away with them. In the name of civilization, a group of pioneers take off in hot pursuit. Amos Edwards, brother of the slain rancher, and Martin Pauley, 18-year-old adopted son of the Edwards family, join the party. Their travels take them into a savage world of unexpected dangers, false hopes, and darkest despair. Their journey becomes a metaphor for the pioneers' quest for larger meaning - and as such, illuminates the lives of all the searchers.
